29th March 2021 – Club Open following Lockdown

We are pleased to announce that we are now open for play following government guidelines.  Only Monday and Thursday Clubnights need to be booked at present with Jacqui as usual.   The Clubhouse will be open for toilet facilities only.

6th January 2021 –  Club Closure

Since the whole country has been put in Tier 5, we are sorry to announce that the club will have to close again until further notice.

 23rd December 2020

Following yesterday’s announcement, that we are now in a tier 4 area, all doubles play at the club will need to cease from Boxing Day, except for people from the same household.  Fortunately singles play is permitted and the club will stay open for this to continue. Courts will need to be booked in advance via the website.

All Club Sessions are cancelled until further notice.

The Singles Box League which is due to commence in early January already has a pleasing number of entries – thank you to everyone who has entered.  If you haven’t already paid via BACS or in cash please can I ask you to do so .

As all Club Sessions and doubles play are now cancelled it is expected that more members will return to playing singles and the decision has been made to ‘reopen’ entry to the Singles Box League.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas, whatever your plans are. Stay Safe and look forward to a better 2021.

Club Re-opening – 2nd December 2020

The club will reopen on Wednesday 2nd December and the new tarmac courts are ready to use, (although they have not been painted and only have temporary lines on till the Spring), court 3 is a full size and court 4 is a singles court.  Court 5 is the mini court suitable for short tennis, juniors and the less able when booking.  Courts 1 & 2 are the all weather artificial clay courts which need sweeping with the brushes at the end of each session.

Lockdown  Court Closure – 5th November 2020

It is with great disappointment that just as our two new courts are ready,  we are having to close the club.  Sadly the LTA have not been successful in persuading the government to allow outdoor tennis to continue during this second lockdown .  Full information can be found at :

Fed Style Tournament – 13th September 2020

A Fed Style Tournament was played in the afternoon to complete finals day.  Five teams of five players competed against the other teams at the same time with one player on the mini court playing singles and the other two couples playing pairs.  Each game was over eight minutes and a bonus point was given if anyone scored over 15 points.   At the end of the games  the team led by Genia and Seth both had equal points and the outcome was made on who had won the most bonus points.   The team above of Simon Hester, Dylan Slow, Dave Brown, Genia Giles (Captain) and Sophie Tjurina were the winners.
