We are very grateful to our President, Belinda Sutton, for allowing us to enjoy the facilities of the Elgood’s Brewery and Gardens. It should be a really enjoyable evening and also raise funds for the club. All members are welcome including juniors, family and friends and we hope that some vice-presidents will also be able to join us. If you would like to go on the brewery tour please do book early as numbers are limited.
The event takes place on Midsummer's Evening which is Wednesday 24th June. Opening times and prices are listed below. If you would like more information on Elgood’s Brewery and Gardens there are leaflets in the club house which details everything they have to offer. There will also be a raffle and any prizes that could be donated would be greatly appreciated.

After a disappointing previous week of results for the club, this past week saw a return to winning form for the Mixed teams in action. On Tuesday night the West Norfolk Mixed team secured a 4-4 draw with Terrington ‘B’ which was an improvement on last year’s loss. Playing for the team was James Newton, Rachel Collins, Rhys Thomas, and Margaret Pendall.
Also playing on Tuesday was the Peterborough and Hunts Mixed ‘B’ team which comprised of Dave Russ, Pauline Maris, Matt Goodwin, and Kitty Hall. Matt and Kitty had played a good game and came away with four sets, with the other pair picking up the much needed fifth to give them a 5-3 win over Ketton ‘C’.
To round off the week the P & H Mixed ‘A’ team faced St Neot’s ‘B’ at home and despite not playing their best tennis, they were able to pick up an 8-0 win. Making up the Wisbech team was Daniel Bambridge, Rachel Collins, Stuart Sage and Sue Beel. |

A practice orange matchplay took place at the club on Sunday 24th May, all those that entered coped well with the hot weather and played a mixture of round robin singles, fun games and doubles. Congratulations to Charlotte White who won the singles round robin event.

This week there were four different teams in action, but unfortunately in a change to previous weeks there were no wins for any of the teams against other clubs. The week started with a Peterborough and Hunts Mixed match between Wisbech ‘A’ and Wisbech ‘B’, which ended in a 7-1 win for the ‘A’ team which was the same result as the previous season. Playing for the victorious team was Daniel Bambridge, Rachel Collins, Stuart Sage, and Sue Beel. Playing against them was Matt Goodwin, Jane Page, Jack Briggs, and Kitty Hall.
On Wednesday night there were two West Norfolk matches taking place at home. First up was the Men’s team comprising of James Newton, Daniel Bambridge, Rhys Thomas, and John Chapman. Playing against league champions West Norfolk ‘A’, they were unfortunate to lose 2-6. Also playing was the Ladies team who lost 0-8 to Dersingham. Playing for Wisbech was Rachel Collins, Margaret Mee, Sue Tolliday, and Claire Brown.
The week ended up with two more Peterborough and Hunts Mixed fixtures. Thursday night saw the ‘B’ team travel to Ramsey where they were unlucky to lose 2-6. The team was made up of Dave Russ, Margaret Pendall, Matt Goodwin, and Kitty Hall. To round the week off, the ‘A’ team played host to Chatteris ‘B’ and managed to secure a 4-4 draw and retain their lead at the top of the league. John Chapman, Rachel Collins, Stuart Sage and Lisa Kennedy were playing in the match.

Despite a bad week of weather, only one match was called off due to the rain. Thursday night saw both Peterborough and Hunts mixed team in action. The ‘A’ team were victorious once again as they defeated Needingworth ‘C’ 5-3 despite being 1-3 down after the first round of sets had been played. The team was made up of Daniel Bambridge, Rachel Collins, Stuart Sage and Sue Beel.
The ‘B’ team also had a match although they were playing much stronger opposition and were unfortunate to lose 0-8 to Chatteris ‘B’. Playing in the match was Matt Goodwin, Kitty Hall, Sue Tolliday, and Jack Goult.
On Friday night the West Norfolk men’s team kicked off their season in there first match since winning promotion to Division 1. Despite a valiant effort James Newton and Daniel Bambridge were only able to take two sets from Burnham Market giving a final result as a 2-6 loss. Making up the other pair were Rhys Thomas and John Chapman. |
