General Regulations 

 1.    Wisbech Lawn Tennis Club accepts no responsibility for loss, damage or injury sustained by members while playing at the club except where direct negligence can be demonstrated.

2.    If the courts are wet members must not play on them as it could easily damage them for the rest of the season.

3.    Players should use court number 5 first, working back to court 1,  in order to avoid excessive wear to courts 1 and 2.

4. Nets should be lowered slightly at the end of play to reduce tension on the nets and posts.

5.    When last to the courts it is the responsibility of all members to make sure the clubhouse windows are closed and the door locked and that the gates are locked.

6.    Subscriptions must be paid within a reasonable time or players will be debarred from the courts. Only paid-up members are eligible to play in matches and to apply for Wimbledon tickets.

7.    Visitors may be introduced to the club by members who are then responsible for collecting the fees and recording the visit in the Visitor’s Book.

8.    Visitors may only play at the club three times in any season except with special permission form the committee.

9.    Monday night is senior club night.  Juniors may be invited to play by the committee.

10.  Players must wear non-ridged tennis shoes which will not damage the grass courts. They should also wear appropriate clothing.

11. Players should take their rubbish home and leave the grounds and clubhouse clean and tidy at all times.

12. Any behaviour which causes offence to others or brings the club into disrepute, or causes defamation of the club’s reputation will not be tolerated.  Details of the club’s disciplinary procedure are to be found in the Constitution.

Code of Conduct

WLTC is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all its members.  The club believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators and parents/guardians associated with the club should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others.

As a member of WLTC, or the parent/guardian of a junior member, you are expected to abide by the following code of conduct:

  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of age, gender, ability, race, cultural background, religious beliefs or sexual identity.
  • Support and encourage junior members to enjoy tennis and appreciate good performance not just results; set a good example by recognising fair play and publicly accept judgements made by officials.
  • Look after the courts and club by:   Not playing on them if they are wet, using courts 3,4,5 first, lowering nets at the end of the play, ensuring the clubhouse and courts are locked on departure, wearing suitable footwear that does not damage the surface and take all litter home.
  • If playing in matches pay the required match fee to the team captain and make a contribution to refreshments or travel.

  • Junior members are welcome to use the courts at any time, subject to availability, but the club cannot accept responsibility for juniors not supervised by an adult.
